Editing Monitor: Sony or Panasonic

I've been told that Sony is pretty much the industry standard...although I have an option on a Panasonic for 30% less ($700 vs $1000).

How important is it to have a Sony?

Thanks,

David

Try JVC

JVC also make good monitors. I am told they are not quite up there with Sonys but I've never been able to tell the difference myself.

And at about 30-50% less too.

The JVC seems to be the same monitor as the Panasonic. The used-at-the-Olympics Pansonic is $700, the JVC BVM-1310 is $899, and the Sony PVM-14L is $1000.

The Panasonic/JVC seem to have a few more features and higher resolution, but I don't have enough experience to determine if this is true.
