Help! HDD wont appear!

hi all,

this is my current set up.

pentium 4 1.8ghz
Maxtor 60G HDD
Ram 1.5G
Mother board has 4 IDEs. 1st IDE is the 60G HDD and 2nd IDE is the CD-ROM. the 3rd and fourth are "optional" raid IDES. Manual says they can be set as normal IDEs or set as RAID.

Now i bought a new 120G Maxtor HDD and connect to the 3rd IDE . I set the IDE as NORMAL (NON-RAID) in the setup utility.

When I run my Win XP PRO, the 120G HDD did not appear as a HDD in "My computer". However, when I try to "add a hardware" in control panels, it says this HDD is working fine!!! What did i do wrong? How do i tell the computer I want the 120G HDD to be a storage HDD on its own??

PLEASE HELP!!!

Ong,

You need to go to computer mangement/ disk manager and import the drive. This is normally done by:

Right clicking on my computer, choosing manage. Then click on disk manager. Hopefully you should be able to "see" the disk here. You then need to right click on the disk and I think its called import disk or something similar.

You should then be able to read and write to the disk as normal.

Hope this helps,

Ed
