Matrox Parhelia 128MB vs. 512MB??

Hi everyone,

I just simply want to have dual monitors outputs and a preview on tv using Avid Pro, PPRO, and AE6. I don't do much 3d stuff. So, my question is that is is worth to go for 512MB card? I mean what do i get from the matrox parhelia 512MB that i dont' get from the 128mb card? Please advice. Thanks.

You mean the 256MB version (not 512MB)?

The amount of RAM affects 3d performance, and only 3d performance with high quality options turned on. The 256MB of the Parhelia might also perform better because of changes to the GPU and/or clock speeds. I'm not sure about that so you'll probably have to check some benchmarks.

So... you get better 3d performance. Feature-wise they should be the same.

Hi Glenn,

Yea, I meant 256MB version. Sorry about that.

So, if i don't do much 3d performance, i don't really need to go for 256MB, right?

Yeah that'd be my conclusion too.
