Anyone use Screenblast 3.0?
 

I'm wondering if any has used the Sony Screenblast 3.0? If so is it any good? I've heard good things about Vegas 4.0 but can't justify the $600 for ti right now. I really just want to upgrade from the Roxio program I use. It's very limited. IS it worth it or should I just tick off the wife and charge the Vegas?

Screenblast will get you familiar with the Vegas interface but IS much more limited. I believe it's something like two video tracks and one audio track.

If you are going to be serious about editing, I would recommend going straight to Vegas. However, screenblast will let you "get your feet wet", get you familiar with the interface, and provide an upgrade path to Vegas in the future.

Screenblast 3.0 has three video tracks and 3 audio tracks which should be enough for most home-use situations.
It doesn't contain a lot of the "pro" features (vector scope, key frames, etc) but it does have all the features the home or advanced amateur would probably need. And, if you should decide to move to Vegas later the interface is very similar so there won't be the same learning curve you would have from another product.
For under $100 it provides a good quality NLE that is very stable in operation. It includes a linked product to author DVD's.
It has some nice features like Chromakey, pan and zoom, etc.
Download the demo version and try it out (Demo won't author DVD though).

Thanks for the correction, Rick. I never used Screenblast but knew it had many more limitations than Vegas.
