Let's see some of those timelines!
 

Okay. We have seen pictures of everyone's gear from cameras to support to editing hardware. How about the virtual environment that finishes these projects. Timelines are a great way to document those hours if not days in post and helps those clients see just what goes into creating their vision. Let's see some of those timelines from your projects from small to super size to nightmares! Below are a few of mine.

You can see my timeline from my Lady X episode here

On the left screen I had my log sheet + notes open and on the
right one you can see my Vegas timeline.

The top track has a 16:9 mask in it. The track below it is a fix
track where I put certain frames that needed fixing. The track
below is the main track with all of the footage and the audio track
is last.

In later revisions a seperate music track + sound effects track
was added which made for a total of 6 tracks.

Rob. Is there any way that you could provide a screen full screen shot to show more detail? I just hit print screen, open paint, paste into paint and then save as a .jpg file.

Sure I can, give me a coupe of days. I need to get my project
back on the harddisk and then load it up into Vegas. That's why
I put up this one picture I already lying around, heh <g>

Image Resolution Quality
 

Looks really involved Brian. I have noticed that your timeline image is just like mine as far as quality, not so great. Why is it perfectly clear while on my hard drive but when I post it as you did, the clarity goes way down? Anyone know why this is and how to fix it?

James -- looks clear to me...

Did you expand the pic in Internet Explorer? IE will reduce the image to fit the window (and this reduced image will look poor); if you hover your cursor over the image, a small box with arrows will appear in the bottom right corner. Click on this box to expand the pic to full size.

Unless you already did that, then I don't know what the problem is... :)

Yeah, John both are clear to me, I have my IE set up so that it never resizes pictures, sounds like the resizing is what's getting you James.

That was my first project in Premiere! Course some of it looks more complicated then it should. It's a thirty minute video so everythings packed together in that view, and I had to double up all the audio tracks because the different sample rates were screwing up the audio so I resampled everything in Audition to 48kHz and then lined up those files with the others.

Thanks John. I wasn't aware of that trick. For anyone else that wants to set their IE to not auto resize do the following:
1. Go to tools in your browser
2. Click on internet options
3. Click on the advanced tab
4. Scroll down to multimedia
5. Uncheck enable auto image resize
6. Click apply and then OK

I really needed to know about that a while back when I was trying to show someone some detailed reports.

No problem... I actually kinda like the resize option and keep it active in IE -- I've opened one too many links to photos that were kept at their original 1600x1200 (or greater) resolution!

James: re-check my image as well then. It is a 1400x1050 picture
that IE resized as well then. You should see some more detail
in there now.

I'll try to post an actual screenshot with the latest edit of the
episode open later this week.

I was definitely able to see it better but not as good as with a screen shot.

Rob quick question about your timeline.

I see you used a 16:9 mask. Did you shoot your work in the camera's 16:9 mode or regular 4:3. Also, any good ways in creating a accurate letter box 16:9 mask?

I shoot everything in 4:3 because I like to be able to reframe my
picture vertically. So that's why I use the mask. My mask came
from my own Letterbox calculator where you can download the
masks I'm using as well!
