Making Audio sound like a Radio Broadcast

A repost from General DV discussion

Any tips on how to make audio sound like a radio broadcast ( coming from a radio within a scene). Any software that is capable of this or is it just an issue of messing with some basic audio settings?

Any help would be great

I have generally used an equalizer (either physical or a software filter) and rolled off the bass, and also boosted the midrange (around the 1K band).

Another simple way to do it is to play the audio and re-record it in the room. You can alter the distance from the speakers to the mike (just use your camcorder if you like) depending on what feels right for the scene; if the radio is intended to be in another room you can position the mike ten feet away, if the radio is nearby you can try perhaps two feet away. Make sure the room is quiet otherwise! Experiment with different volumes for playback, if it is too quiet the room tone or hiss may be undesirable.

Try "Cool Edit 2000". It's a fairly inexpensive audio processing program that is versatile and very useful. Their web site contains all the info you need >> http://www.syntrillium.com/
