Multiple tape caturing at once... bit like Canopus...
 

okies, ive seen the Storm, RT2 yadda yadda Canopus cards...

all well and good, but i dont liek the edius and at teh moment there are isues with PremPro being used with this Hardware, and Vegas doesnt use this HW.. so the only useflul thing would be the simultaneous capturing...

now i tried doing this with multiple cams on the same app.. but it doesnt work..

I tried doing this with diferent capture apps (Vidcap5, and Main concept capture) no good either..

now it seems that the only way to do this is get a canopus card..

OR

is there a way i can get something similar to the multi capture program??

Im really desperate, and if i could halve my capture time, i woudl at least be completing a days worth of work in a matter of hours..

any ideas are greatly appreciated

You can go a different route and get a hard drive recorder. Basically you use a hard drive recorder instead of mini-DV tape.

I don't use one at all, but from what I figure out:

PROS:
fast transfer to computer
you do not need to spend money on a deck
no tapes to mess up or get dirty
?record over 1hr?
?some (not all) have a buffer so you can get footage from 10second before you hit the record button.

CONS:
?The hard drive and/or device can mess up on you.?
Cost.

2- Another approach is to change your workflow. I'm used to capturing the entire tape and letting DV start/stop detection go to work.

You don't waste time batch capturing this way (1 pass instead of 2). You need extra hard drive space for this... but it isn't terribly expensive.
$200 buys you like 15 hours of DV.

storage isnt an issue once captured.. its teh time it takes to capture which is whats buggin me..
im losing a whole day on each machine as i capture..
basically 10hours worth of footage for each job.. (maximum) so that means aeach PC is out of work for a day as these are captured..

i thought about things like firestore and Direct to Disc devices, but im a lil dubious about reliability..

firestore drives are dependable.. no need to worry.
