Onboard firewire
I'm back from my 2-week trip, and many DV-tapes later I need an upgrade before I get down to editing it all.
One such upgrade is a firewire port. Does anyone here use, approve, or have a distaste for motherboards with on-board 1394 port(s)? I'm not a fan of onboard audio, LAN, etc.... But I'll be getting a new motherboard anyway, and firewire ports are fairly new to the integrated scene. My setup will consist of an A7V333, or A7V8x based platform and a thuroughbred Athlon XP (probably a 2200). I'm going to try out the newer serial IDE technology, and slapping a 120 GB IBM deskstar for editing-only. (love IBM drives). So, comments re: onboard firewire? |
On-board firewire ports are fine as long as they are fully OHCI compatible (preferably with a TI chipset).
