60i to 30 fps

Hello all,

I have a couple hours of footage that I shot with the Canon XL1 in Frame Mode ...and I have 1 hour of footage shot in 60i ....

Is there a way I can get the 60i footage to look like the footage shot in frame mode? ...

Thanks,

P.S. I use Adobe Premiere Pro

I've moved your thread to our general PC editing forum (since it
should quickly rise beyond Premiere).

The technique you are referring to is called de-interlacing. It
converts the interlaced signal to progressive. The good news is
that Premiere can do this for you, the bad news is that it is
probably not going to look great and definitely not the same as
the frame mode footage.

What is your final delivery format going to be? Web? Broadcast?
DVD?

Some external programs will do a better job of converting and
matching the footage. One that comes to mind is Magic Bullet,
but I'm not 100% sure it would be good for this. Hopefully others
will chime in with their thoughts on this!

There is also a method with copying your movie to two layers
and blending it together etc. We have a tutorial for this with
After Effects, but it might give you ideas for Premiere as well:
