400 Gbs to encode

Sorenson Squeeze does not want to know my .avi (Videolan) files and dissatisfaction with QT7Pro seems widespread. I have 2 years backlog of clips edited with Premier Elements to compress.

Please recommend an encoder worth buying (that readily accepts and compresses all video files on pc) ... nothing fancy nor sophisticated please and audio is unimportant?

Your statements are confusing. Squeeze doesn't want to deal with your .avi and .mov files? that seems odd. If you can play the files on your system, Squeeze should be able to work with them.

An alternative is TMPGEnc. I think I paid US$79 for it earlier this year. Dead simple to use with high quality output. If you search these lists you can find others' opinions of the product.

Thank you, Tripp, for questioning my statement.

I was blaming Sorenson for my problems with an old version of SUPER. I have downloaded a trial version of Squeeze and it seems to be working well; and if it doesn't it will probably be due to my inappropriate settings, while I'm re-learning it.

Upgrade to Sorenson Squeeze Pro 5 downloaded today.

Would someone using Sorenson 5 on pc be kind enough to list the settings used to compress .avi clips of birdflight(to save space on video drive). If you mention at what stage in the sequence you decide which quality output you select and how you do it, that would be very helpful.

Still unclear - what do you really want to do?

Saving hard drive space means different things to different people. Will you be further editing this footage later? What is the destination? A website? Viewing on your TV? What format is it - HD or SD?

QT7 works fine - what is your particular issue?

And what are Videolan avi files anyway???
