New monitor

got a budget of about 350. Was looking at these:

Newegg.com - Dell UltraSharp U2412M (469-1137) Black 24" 8ms LED Backlight Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 DC 2,000,000:1 (1000:1)

Newegg.com - HP ZR24w Black 24" 7ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 400 cd/m2 1000:1

There are others as well. Guess I was just looking at one with an IPS panel. Any suggestions or help? Looking for one for video editing. Some places say at the low price point doesn't matter what monitor but would still like to get a good one.

Not a good choice for anything other than simple cuts-only editing. Those particular HP's in that link have only TN panels, which means that they can only reproduce 6-bit color, which is less than the 8-bit minimum that you want for more serious work (especially color correction and balancing).

On the other hand, either of the two monitors in the links in this thread's original post are decent choices if you're on a budget, especially since good IPS or VA monitors suitable for serious video work cost significantly more money than the two you're considering.
