Upgrade Hard Drive, RAM, or both?

I am looking to use my laptop as a secondary edit station. I already have a desktop more than capable, but I want to get out of the house form time to time.

Here are my current specs:
AMD 64+ 3200
512 MB RAM
80GB HD (4200) boo
Radeon 64 mb card.

I worked through one project with just a few hiccups. Now, I'm serious, yet seriously on a budget.

Eventually, I want to get both an external 200GB 7200RPM Hard Drive and an extra 1GB or RAM. If I could only go for one right now, which would you get?

Also, where do you buy your RAM from? Newegg seemed to have the best prices.

By the way, I am running Vegas Movie Studio Platinium:)

Any help is greatly appreciated.

yeah, what he said :-)

also, if your laptop system drive is only 4200 rpm, it'll be a pia, because you'll have to wait for everything.
