Lossless codec for retouching

What DV codec do you use for rotoscoping and compositing? Or do you use image sequences?

DV codecs aren't lossless codecs, but they are pretty good a minimizing visual quality loss.

What about using lossless codecs like Animation or Huffyuv? (Both free.)
On the commercial side, there's codecs like Microcosm.
