Need motherboard help.

We're currently editing in Premiere Pro 2.o, and our computer is
running fine. We've started editing in HDV, but are unable to output
footage from the computer to view it on an hd tv.
After researching the issue, I bought an envidia quadro 540 card with
break out box. I then realized that the card will only work with a pci
express motherboard.

I have a P4 Prescott 478 chip. PC400 memory. I don't want to have to
replace these components. I only wish to change out the motherboard to
support PCI Express. For the NVideo Quadra 540 card with breakout box
(that I already bought).

The following Asus motherboard seems to be what I'm looking for, but is
no longer available:

Can anyone suggest another brand that would be suitable for my needs.

Thanks

Look for SLI/Tumwater MBs

Bruce:

There are several good SLI motherboards out there now (Tyan, for example) that support the Tumwater chipset, if you have a hyperthreading Xeon (or dual Xeon) CPU. Tyan has a few nice MBs for the Prescott as well. Regardless, PCI Express and a Quadro graphics accelerator work great with Premiere; it detects the GPU and offloads work to the graphics adapter. Using NVIDIA's monitoring software, I can actually watch the GPU core temperature shoot up as the playback begins. My editing system uses a Quadro FX4400, and I am extremely pleased with Premiere's performance. It captures 24p/16:9 content quickly and cleanly, smoothly delivering extremely hi-res (2560 x 1600) video on my LCD. If you spend a lot of time editing, it's well worth the extra cost...

Trenton,
Thanks for the reply. I picked up another Aesus with pci express on ebay. I already have the Quadro 540x, so hopefully I'll be good to go.
