HOw Do I Take A After Effects render and render to Mini-DV for transfer to Beta SP?
I created a composition in after effects. I have rendered it to an avi file uncompressed frames.
I only have a mini-dv deck, but I want my final output to be on Beta-SP. Any recommendations or advice on this? I am thinking I can print it to tape, and then take it to a transfer house to get a nice Beta-SP. Is there anything I am missing or shoud be looking out for? Thanks. |
If you are going to take it to a transfer house I think it would be
best to call them and ask how they'd like to receive it. Perhaps you can give it to them uncompressed on a harddisk. Saves you one generation of "loss". Otherwise they probably accept miniDV tape. What you do is output to AVI with your DV Codec and then import that into your NLE to output/print it to tape. |
based upon the equipment you have available ..
transfer you project to dv tape then take your dv tape to a dub house for a betaSP copy ... why do you want a betaSP copy ? if you shot project on your DV camera you gain nothing going to betaSP ( infact you lose slightly) |
it was a quickie commercial.
and the station needed it in BetaSP. I only had mini-DV stuff at home, but they needed that thing like yesterday. |
If they really need it that fast, take your camera to the station and connect the composite out to the Beta decks. I've done it with news stuff before. Works pretty well. You may need adapters (which they should have) to go between RCA and BNC for the video and RCA to XLR (possibly w transformer) for the audio.

Forgot to mention, when I've done this, it was to a BetaSX deck and it somehow ended up with two sets of sync bars on the SX tape. It was still outside of the of the normal scan area so it didn't matter in broadcast but looked wierd.
