Hard Drive Interface - New Product
Anyone think this might be useful.
http://www.newertech.com/products/usb2_adapt.php I am thinking as I retire used project hard drives that I want to archive this might be a convienient way to quickly access them if necessary. Regards |
USB Anything yeech...
I don't like USB at all for any high speed device.
Printer, mouse, keyboard, ok (grudgingly). Part of this is 'cause manufacturers take the USB spec more as a suggestion. I encounter many USB hubs that cannot supply the required volts/amps indicated by the spec. Also see chipset design flaws that kill performance once more than one device is attached. Most never know the difference and blame MS-Windows when it goes flaky. While I am sure many will chime in how their USB HDD works great, remember it's a bus and you may eventually hang something off that bus that affects performance. Firewire is a much better interface. |
