Image shift effect

I need to show a person's face rapidly shift/cut from the left, middle and right of the frame. This week I will have Vegas 7.0 and Adobe After Effects, but which one of these programs would be best suited to pull off such an effect? And how exactly should I go about doing this? Thanks.

Would a green screen effect be best for this effect?
