Business Card cd/dvd disk

Hi,
Has anyone had any experience using the business card size cd's or dvd's. What is the recording length? What machines will write to these disks?

Thanks, Brian

Well the CDRs hold about 50 MB. One Google result boasts that this is the equivalent of:

- 500 - 2000 HTML pages with reasonable amount of graphics.
- 375 screens of 640 by 480 graphics
- 750 pages of .pdf in 1 byte
- 250 Power Point slides
- 5 minutes of CD audio
- 48 minutes of MP3 Music (CD Quality)
- 6 minutes of compressed 320 by 240 video

Any writer will be able to handle this size disc. Sometimes readers--particularly older ones--are finicky about such discs and will fail to find them.

One other tip. These discs can't be stored in your wallet for a long time as you would with a business card. The heat and the wear and tear will rub the data coating right off the disc, even if you keep them inside the little plastic sheaths they come with.

I've never seen a business card sized writable DVD media.

Has anyone had decent luck with the business card cds? I find that they genreally play OK on desktop machines where the cd lays in the inner tray but don't do as well on laptops where the cd clicks onto a spindle.

I have been looking into using min-CDs, which while not quite business card size seem to play more reliably and can handle 180 MB worth of data.

I should add that the usual trick is to place a very small site of HTML or Flash content on one of these 50 MB discs, but have it the pages link to more expansive content if an internet connection is detected.
