How to film women: advice?

I'm going to be testing a new camera soon, and rather than film another bunch of buildings and landscapes, I thought I'd hire a couple of models for some head-shots etc. Heck there are worse ways to spend a Sunday.

Back when I was into still photography, the photo-enthusiast magazines of the day would occasionally publish "How to shoot your girlfriend without making it look like a submission to Reader's Wives" guides (that wasn't the real title but it was pretty much the sentiment). Basic stuff, shoot in B&W, use a soft focus filter, find a scenic location etc.

Has anyone seen anything like this for video? I'd like to film some 'mood' scenes with some interesting backdrops in SF and it's environs, so I have the locations thought out. Now I'm just looking for a few tips and tricks for the shoot.

Anyone seen anything on the web?

TIA

Maybe a light difusion filter would help, and a good color correction.
Go for a warm look.
