Cracking open a mini dv tape...how?

Has anyone done this without any major problems...seems the screws are blocked ...or are there any at all on these....sure isn't like the vhs tapes or cassettes I use to work on....

Or I can go back and record half the show again....arrrgh...

thanks...

I've never tried this on mini-dv tapes, so I can't say for sure, but it may depend upon the brands. I use Panasonic tapes and I can see screw heads through the little screw ports. Unfortunately, it would appear that I don't even have a small enough driver tip in my precision kit that will work with these micro sized screws.

on my sony dv tapes it looks like an eye glas repair kit screw drive would fit at open all of the screws. As before, ive never tried.

Yes certainly the Sony's come apart just like Hi8 cassettes. I have repaired one for a friend that had damaged the shell and we just opened a new cassette and put in the tape from the damaged cassette. Assembly is critical to get all the parts back in the same place but was not that difficult.

yeah I've got the sony tape but there are no screws...seems like they covered the hole with plastic..hmmm wonder if I can break through there but then it could still be a pain to do if all the plastic doesn't come out....yep I got the small screw driver for it...

thanks guys.....
