Question about Projectors and TV safe lines?

I posted this in one of the subforums but no one seems to know the answer, so i'm posting it again hoping someone knows

Yo guys, i'm putting toghter a slide show and editing it in premiere, anyway, the video slideshow will be played through a projection unit onto a wall. My question is... do i adhere to the TV safe lines while editing or can i use the whole window so when it plays thorugh a projection it will show the full size.

thanks

As far as I know, it projects the whole image, all pixels.

However, it's not that hard to check. Do a test run if at all possible.

There is absolutely no reason for overscanning on a projector, unless the effect was achieved because the image ran off the screen if the theater/room was setup like that, but that would be clear to you. The only possibility is that they set it up like that on purpose to show the same image as the TV, but I doubt it.

Projectors are used for displaying computer screens; as such, you wouldn't want the task bar or file menu cut off... so... no.. shouldn't be a problem.

I shoot and edit a lot of conference closers/candids, shown on large projectors.

When the projector is behind the screen, you'll tend to lose a tiny amount (no more than 2-4%), though top notch video engineers will want a perfect fit.

For front projection, there's usually no loss of edges, though be aware that some engineers will crop the sides by a little bit and zoom the image to fit if VT clips of tape are being shown. Video originated on Beta/broadcast kit has black edges on it, extending about 2-3% into the frame. DV shot on DSR-5XX and 4XX has a 1-2 pixel black border. Z1/PD150 footage is edge-to-edge.

So, 'title safe' is a little redundant, and 'action safe' is VERY safe for text. :)
