Best way to film fireworks NYE

Whats the best way to film fireworks at night?
I have another gig to do and I need my wife to film the fireworks at midnight in Sydney NYE.
Should i just give her my PD170 in auto and maybe limit the gain to 12db or so.

I have never shot fireworks so I cant suggest any iris settings etc...
Any thoughts on this? or should it just run in auto.
Cheers
Simon
