Direct to disk HD recording (what are the options)

I know of the firestore, adobe onlocation (with a laptop) and citidisk options for the P2 cam. However, if you are looking to record from a regular HD or HDV cam such as the sony HVR-A1U or the JVC 100U what are the options for direct disc recording. Keep in mind that recording time is important to me so I would want something that I don't have to change batteries or drives every 15 minutes in order to record 1080i. Also important is the ability be mobile, so if I don't have to be ties to a computer or laptop that would be a plus. Still all options are welcomed.

You can still use a Firestore with a non-P2 camera. So theres an option...

yeah I know but was hoping there were less pricey run and gun options in the portable direct to disk options list. ADS had a drive a few years back but, I believe, it was strictly dv. Anyway thanks

If you are using a Sony HDV camcorder then you could consider the HVR D60 Hard Disk recorder. You can record up to 4.5 hours in HDV. It fits right on the hotshoe.

I see that it's listed on B&H for $1,399 and has a $500 rebate from Sony.

Another option...

might be one of the nNovia products. I think they already make one to accommodate HDV, and they recently announced that other upgrades are on their way.

Isn't Spec-Comm also working on something? (Though, as I understand it, that is a few months away from release).
