Immediate Help Needed. Tape not working for capture

Hey folks, I recorded some footage yesterday on a Sony HVR A1U and when I try to capture it, i can't see any of the footage. I've put it in my Sony hvr m15u also, and when I try to play it, the caution light starts blinking. All other tapes work fine. This is very important footage for my job so I'm not sure what to do. If i play it back in the camera, I can see the footage and hear it but Vegas won't have any of it.

Any suggestions?

Make sure your playback settings match your recording setting, e.g. DV if you shot DV, HDV if you shot that.

Yea the settings are fine. I don't understand what is happening. I'm currently recording from the camera to another camera VIA iLink. Hopefully the new tape will capture....if it's even recording it.

Looks like a computer issue - PCs often have problems capturing, even if capture worked fine before. Happened to me...

Does the computer recognize the camera when plugged in?

Are you on XP or on Vista?

Is this DV or HD?

It recognizes it just fine. It's HD and like I said, all other tapes work fine. But the original tape in question does not work...and the copy I just made of it doesn't work either. But it plays back fine in the camera.

UPDATE: It seems to be working in Microsoft Movie Maker LOL...but not in vegas. Again, all other tapes work in vegas...WHAT??

Google for it, give it a try - you have nothing to loose. It's a very small program, only a couple hundred KB, you don't need to install it, runs from a folder on your PC.

Does scene splitting too!
