*HELP! Sunset Photo Shoot!? TIPS!? *

Hey everyone,

Well, this afternoon I am scheduled to do a sunset photo shoot with a local model here in hawaii. Ive done sunset shoots before, but I want this one to come out as best as possible, being that we would like to try printing some of these photos out.

I just wanted to know if anyone has any experience with doing sunset photo shoots? Any tips for getting great lighting? I have a reflector, but this will by my first time working with one. It is double sided, one side silver, the other side gold. Which side is better? should I use flash? which direction will I get the best light?

Does anyone know any good sites with examples of sunset model shoots? Maybe I should look at some sports illustrated swimsuit pictures!?

well, i just wanted to know if anyone had any tips that could help me out. Thanks in advance...

John

What kind of camera, flash etc. and what film are you using? The gold side of the reflector will give a much warmer tone than white or silver. Depending on the light, film etc. it may be too much warmth.

I always use fill flash for people pictures. But depending on your camera, flash etc. it may get a little complicated and I wouldn't necessarily recommend it on such short notice.

well, im using my crappy 707. 5.2 mp digital cam. Its alright...but if lighting is right, its pretty good.

like ive stated before, i want to chuck this one and get a 10d.

thanks for the tips jeff! i appreciate it...

I like using the Cokin Sunsoft or a "pop" filter: pink or yellow. A Softar 1 gives a nice mellow/soft look.
