Travel pack
 

Hi all,

Looking for a large hiking pack that allows me to carry my necessaries for long term travel and as well my XL1s.

Any thoughts.... Anyone tried this out.

I will be making a 1500 mile trip with a few boats, trains, wagons, planes, and domesticated animals. It need to take a beating.

Hell, better yet anyone want to trade a 2 year old xl1s w/ 16x manual lens for a equally nice PD-150; I'll throw in a pelican case. and pay shipping! I'm serious!

I use a Tamrac 787 to carry all my gear. I don't know how practical it would be for a travel such as yours. You may just want to use a large pack from Lowe or one of the other pack manufactures. Wrap you camera in extra clothes, foam padding, small camera case etc.

Check out the Lowe Road Runner AW. I've been eyeing one of those for awhile. It's legal size for carry-on, has rollers and an extendable handle, comfortable straps, a built-in rain cover...and I know it's big enough to carry an XL1 because I took mine in the store and tried it.

Worth checking out.

I have a vx2k not xl1 but i did just purchase a lowepro backpack the nature trekker and its a really nice pack. Lowe has been making high quality packs and outdoor gear under the Lowe Alpine / Lowe Pro names for years. I own several Lowe alpine packs and they are built to last and withstand the rigors of hiking etc. The nature trekker is not the biggest in the trekker line but i'm able to fit all of my gear in it no prblem. It has an extremely padded back support and comfortable shoulder straps and wasitbelt thats heavily padded as well.The pack also comes with a built in rain cover for it for when you are caught in heavy rains. A removeable daypack came with it that attaches to the pack and allows you to carry even more gear. I actually bought mine brand new off ebay from a Canadian retailer nad save about $40-$50 over the USA reatail price.
