MiniDV to 3/4 will I lose quality?

Hello group,

What's the best way to go from MiniDV to 3/4?

I need it in 3/4 for broadcast.... is the only format Adelphia Cable takes!! (public access)

I worked REALLY HARD to get this quality on MiniDV. Even the people that have seen it are very impressed!!

So I was wondering if I'll lose quality by going from MiniDV to 3/4 or are there any tips I should know try to keep the quality I now have on my MiniDV tape.

If someone has done this and would like to give me a few tips that would be great! :)

Are you going to 3/4 or 3/4 SP?

I was told I need the master on 3/4..

IS there a difference between 3/4 and 3/4 SP?

If there is can you explain the difference?

Thanks!

Sony came out with 3/4 SP to counter Panasonic and JVC introducing S-VHS. It featured higher S/N ratio and more lines of resolution. It required a better grade tape to handle the improved video signal. Using special dub cables, the signal could be copied for several generations with very little loss of quality. Laird my still make transcoders that handle the dub frequency. If not, straight analog composite copies may be the best you can hope for. Image quality will suffer.

Thanks for your input Jeff... I really appreciated

I also will be posting a web version of the video but I'm having a bit of trouble finding an affordable hosting company with good speed and lots of web space.

Can you recomend any good/cheap hosting companies?

:)

Don't dub it to 3/4SP before checking what the station has, because standard 3/4 decks won't play SP. Anything going to 3/4 will suffer some because of the limitations of 3/4--it doesn't like saturated colors very much.
