saving old DV files to 1.5TB ext HD, how many partitions should I create?

I have about 480GB of DV video on my old 500GB ext hard drive. I just bought a new 1.5TB ext hard drive and I want to copy everything over to the new drive.

Should I create 2 or 3 partitions on the 1.5TB drive? I don't do anything with those DV videos at all... they are just sitting there as back-up. (well, actually the back-up of another back-up on a third hard drive)

Thanks for any suggestions. :)

Why the need for more than one partition? Just format the drive, copy the info. and you're golden?

Personally I wouldn't partition. Reason being if you want to add more to this library your not limited in the future to the size of the partition, only to the size of the drive. Once you do copy over your files make sure to compare and check the files. Looking for corruption or if files sizes don't compare to the old ones. Also I like to go through and randomly open files to make sure they still work. If its a large project I would open as many as 20 different files just to verify there good.
