transfering MiniDv/DVCAM directly to DVD
Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong category?
There was a MiniDV/DVCAM deck that transfered tapes to DVD directly a couple years ago. (looked like a table-top VHS player) I forgot the model number and need to get one. can anyone remember who made it and the model number? Does anyone have one in good working condition they'd like to sell? Email me directly and hopefully we can make a deal. siucoharley@hotmail.com. Thanks in advance |

It's about $1400 new. Has an internal hard drive for rough editing to DVD. |

There are a number of standalone DVD recorders that have FireWire input for direct connection to a MiniDV/DVCAM source. I have an Insignia and a Sony. The Sony can control the transport of the camcorder plus a bunch of usual odd but fascinating Sony features. Both cost ~$100.

Panasonic make a couple of the standalone DVD recorders that can do this. I have both the E15 and E25. Keep in mind it's going to transcode your DV footage to MPEG2 in real time. If you don't care about the loss, one of those or their replacements should be the ticket. When I bought mine a couple of years ago they were about US$150.
