Capturing on My Book

I bought myself a WD My Book Essential Edition 1TB external USB drive for storage. I was wondering whether you can capture straight to this external hard drive. Will it be any problem since the connection from this device to my desktop PC is USB 2.0?

There shouldn't be a problem capturing to your external hard drive due to its USB connectivity. I personally have been using USB hard drives, especially USB powered drives, for a long time and haven't had a problem.

Depends on what you want to capture - for example it won't work with uncopressed stuff.

For DV or HDV even a slow 4200 rpm 2.5 inch bus-powered USB drive works fine.

My book Essential runs at 7200 RPM, 16 MB Cache. What I want to capture is HDV and DV from my camcorder, so I guess from what you are saying it should be OK.
