DVC200 Settings under stage lights?
 

Can anyone recommend some settings for a DVC200 when shooting under stage lights? It's for an archival tape and will be used for performer review, etc. Only one camera, no chance to correct lights.

Lights are up most of the show, except follow spots on solos. I plan on having nothing on an auto setting. I've seen in some posts that an incandescent setting may work.

I'll be stuck in the corner by the sound board.

Any recommendations for specific settings or filters?

When shooting with consumer cameras I always find that stage lighting makes "highlights" (i.e. on people's faces) wash out. This is in autoexposure mode. Sometimes the lighting people do creative things with the lighting and suddenly it turns into a low light situation and the cameras get a lot of grain.

I have no experience with your camera so I don't know what to suggest. You should definitely attend a dress/lighting rehearsal beforehand if you can.

I use a DVC200, and shoot 4 - 5 concerts/recitals a year. You'll need to ride your iris as the lighting will vary during the performance. I always white balance to full stage lighting, and when possible, I have a portable monitor to make minor tweaks during the show. My white balance is usually in the range of 5.6K, and I usually don't mess with the scene files. I usually arrive a little early and meet the lighting engineer before the show. I get a good feel for what he is planning for the show, so I don't have any surprises. Hope this helps.
