do the TRV900 and the VX2000 have the same 3CCD chips?

Just wondering if they both have the same 3CCD HAD chips.
thanks.

No, the VX2000 has a 1/3" chip, the 900 had a 1/4" chip

do you think

the 900 is good enough for non-professional projects? public access and kind of a learn-how-to-film camera? i have a vx2000 right now and i am considering down grading...just to save a thousand bucks and really get something nice in a year or two.

I had the use of a 900 for a few weeks prior to buying my VX2000. The 900 is nice but there is no comparison, unless size is an issue. Bill Pryor uses a 900 as a grab cam and intercuts with his DSR250 footage. Hopefully he'll respond.

it should be fine

the 900 is pretty much the exact cam as the pd100, it gives a good picture and depending upon what/where you are shooting, you should not even notice the difference

I have both a vx2000 and a pd100, there are times I actually prefer the pd100 for its smaller size and big lcd. The only drawback is if you have to load it with a bunch of stuff, wireless, etc then a mini rover hand grip might be good.

As for good enough for public access I can think of 20 pkgs I know of that were shot on pd100's or trv900s that were shown on a nat. (cable) network I used to work at, this includes one a friend shot about 2 mos ago,(he used a pd150/ trv 900) and he did some pbs frontline stuff also and used it for part of that project...
