need dust out of a GL2 lens asap

I got my GL2 back from the shop and found a spec of dust inside the lens. I have to shoot all weekend. Anyone know the right way to open it up and clean it?

Read this post from our archives. You have nothing to worry about.

I found it by using our search feature. Click the search button in the upper right corner of this window and type dust into the requester and you'll find numerous posts on the subject.

It is showing up and ruining my shots

Hi,
I read that thread where it said not to worry. So I didn't. Looking at the today's footage and I see the spec is showing up on screen. It is only the size of the tip of a pin. It is just inside the first lens plate, which to me, looks like a piece of protective glass. Can I not get this open somehow to clean it? Is that black front able to open? I need to shoot a full day again tomorrow.

There are no user serviceable parts inside the lens. Any tampering would also void the warranty, if still in effect. Return the camera to Canon or an authorized service center for repair.

In the meantime the spec can be minimized by shooting with small aperture numbers (F2 to F4). Use a neutral density filter or polarizer to aid in reducing your aperture.

If there's a spec of dust inside the lens, it's out of your hands! Bring it back to the repair shop and insist they fix it or don't pay for the repairs.

It could be a bigger issue than just a speck of dust or thread. Are we certain it is not the inside lens coating delaminating or cracking? It's a shame that they make these cameras so difficult to disassemble, inspect, and clean.
