Conversion Quality for WinTV PVR USB2

Hey, so I was thinking of expanding my business by doing media transfers too. I have this and it goes direct to my computer and has component ins. Would there be much degredation for things like a VHS tape through that componant in? I also have an HV20, is there someway that can record AV in? I heard it can but can't find out how... would it have better quality though?

Thanks for chiming in even if it's just a little bit of knowledge.

I have the WinTV-HVR 950...

I use it in my dorm since I don't have a lot of room for my MacBook Pro to watch TV and record some video games.

I noticed when using it with the coax in for like HD tv through antenna, it looks suburb. But when using the component to record my PS3 game play, it wasn't the greatest. Best just to try it out. But probably better to capture your DV or HDV footage some how else.

It should defiantly work more then fine.

During my break my dad did something of the sort. He captured old home movies with the VCR from the early 90's and hooked it in through the good old red/white/yellow RCA connector and it looked nearly the same.

Then I just encoded them in .MP4 H.264 and stored them on my external HDD, so he just plugs the External Lacie HDD into the PS3 and can watch them when he likes...
