I'm still trying to find out about its shutter speeds. No luck. Not even JVC Canada knows (they just stock the thing).

To answer your question, it has been out in Canada for at least a month. But here's the kicker: it's so expensive that dealers don't want to bring them in unless someone slaps down the cash and orders one.

At one UK site, I read it has a progressive scan CCD. I don't think this is correct though. Through bablefish, I read progressive shutter on JVsee's Jap. site.

I've also got this strange feeling that its lens may be made with plastic. Not sure.

It's basically a re-worked 2000 and has many things in common with it. Somewhere around here I have some photos of the Victor version, which was available in Japan back in January. The CEO of Edirol had one at VideoMaker Expo West and I got to see it up close. I can't get excited about these little JVC's and Panny's because I'm a huge advocate of external lens controllers and there ain't no way to use one on these camcorders (only Sony and Canon).

Sounds foreboding...It sounded good in the specs at the canadian site, but the real thing is a diff story I guess. Guess I will wait and see after it comes out and if it is not that good, maybe look at something else...would conider the sony 951 but would really like that 1/3 ccd, yet can't afford something like the JVC 300, the streaming one...t

It doesn't have a 1/3" CCD. Isn't it 1/3.6? That's closer to the 1/4" size (just divide: 1 divide 3.6 = .277")

My fault Frank for not posting my thoughts clearer...you are correct it is a 1/4.7" ccd I think, but what I meant to say was I would like to look at the 951, but I would prefer to get a camcorder with at least a 1/3"ccd and that is why I won't consider the 951 this time...sorry for the mispost..thanks..t
