Panasonic AG-W3

Does anyone want to share some information about the Panasonic AG-W3 world-wide (multi-system converter) VCR? I see the cost is $1549.99 US. Ouch.

Thanks. How good is this unit's conversion? Is it well-built and solid? Any known problems with it? Is it worth the money?

I would say that it is better than all the software conversions I've seen. I would only consider it if I was going to offer the conversions as a pay service. The software conversions are getting better, but take too long to do commercially. There are some cheaper conversion VCR's but the quality is OK for personal viewing but again, too low for a commercial operation. Top hardware convertors are much more money, but offer very transparent conversions.

So you're saying its good for commercial use (conversions for people). Thanks. I've seen a number of converters but have never seen this one in the flesh. Would you say that this unit is over-priced, or priced right at 1549.99? Is this the going price?

I also heard that Sony makes some but could not find any listings.

Right now I own 2 Japanese Domestic AIWA MX100's. They're very good for the money, but I thought I'd dig a bit to find out Pana's, and perhaps Sony's offerings.

Thanks again, Jeff.
