zr60 auto shut down.
I just grabbed a ZR60 to use as a deck and a webcam. Problem is, after five minutes the camera shuts itself off. Is there a way to turn off the auto shut down? I have searched the menus but I can not find it.
Thanks, Bryan |
Remove the tape, perhaps.

The Auto Shut Down feature is standard on all DV camcorders.
It's meant to protect your tape from the head drum spinning at 9000 rpm. There's no menu to turn it OFF. Remove the tape, as Frank said, and you should be safe. |
I'm not familiar with your camera, but try this. Look for interval record in the menu. Set the record rate for 1 second, and the interval for 5 to 10 minutes. If This should keep the camera active. What it won't do for you is work as a regular recorder, but you can run an RCA or SVHS cable from the video out, to an outboard recorder and get 6-8 hours of video no problem.
By doing this, your camera won't go into auto shutdown, and you'll get some wild time lapse footage as well. |

Yeah, but on my xl1s, when it powers down, all it does is power down the tape/heads/drum area. The camera remains on, and continues to work as the webcam. I will try the tape thing as, it sounds like thats probably the answer. Thank you. |
