tips for shooting a car on a process trailer

Well, I'm shooting 15 pages of dialogue in a car on a process trailer. The sound guy would like to keep the windows closed - any tips for shooting through the side window?

Hi -

First tip is to change the glass. Most car glass is tinted. Through-the-windshield shots are most often done through clear glass.

The second tip is to visualize the shot from the side, through the glass. I don't think you will want to use it much, as the glass will always be there.

If you really need that angle for extended periods, an open window makes more sense visually. The real question is does it make sense dramatically? Don't let the sound man make dramatic choices for you. I'm sure you and he can come up with an alternative, after you decide what is best for the story.
