Any licensed radio amateurs on the forum?

It just struck me... got to go take a vacation on the beach for this to happen... writing this from my ocean-front hotel room...

I never thought about asking this: are there any licensed radio amateurs (aka HAM) on this forum?

If so, are you using your two hobbies to complement each other?

Thanks,
N1RVN (my HAM call sign)

I had a third class license decades ago, but I never renewed or upgraded it. For video purposes, I guess it would have come in handy if I wanted to operate those higher-powered two way radios during a shoot?

I've had my licence here in the UK since 1977 - callsign G8RAJ.
Although I haven't been active for years, I still kept it going, and now it's a 'lifetime' free renewal.

Never really used the two hobbies together - unless you count using radio mics! :-)

I'm like Roger - still have the license, but nowadays don't seem to have the time.

just for info, the UK hams are going to be pretty miffed when the Olympics comes to London - reading the Government consultation information because of radio mic concerns, it seems quite probably that the 430-440MHz amateur band will be stolen for extra comms bandwidth, and there isn't enough spare!
