Good books to study...

Hey all,

I'm about to head back to Iraq and was looking for some good suggestions on books to study about film making. I'll have plenty of time to read and will some time to experiment.

Thanks for any suggestions!!

"Film and the Director," by Livingston is an old one, very basic but still a classic. You can still get used paperbacks on Amazon, last time I looked. "In the Blink of an Eye" is a very good book on editing, by Walter Murch. Russ Lowel's book on lighting is excellent (available from the Lowel website, probably Amazon too. If you want a fun and informative read, Bruce Campbell's "If Chins Could Kill" is great (wherein he talks about the famous "vasocam.")
