Broadcast Specs

So I don't sound like a total idiot when I approach a station. What is the proper protocol / etiquette to get a stations specs for broadcast? Who/What department is the proper person to contact?

Try the chief cameraman or the chief engineer..

Normally, anyone working in Master Control should be able to give you that info.

Some stations have it on their website.

I would call up and let them know about your project and that you would require broadcasting specs. Anyone working Master Control should if not I would try the Chief Engineer.

You will give yourself more latitude if you try to find out what they will accept as well as what they prefer. They usually have some latitude depending on what the footage is for.

Are you sending in a commercial to them? If so, the sales team should be able to obtain that.
