New Lacie 250GB drive is showing 9.9mb of space

Just received new Lacie HD from client and when I formatted and tried to transfer it said not enough space.
Brand new 250 gig is showing 9.9mb of space. What's up.

So why are you asking for this in the EX forum and it would help if you'd mention what (OS) you were connecting the LaCie to...

I have only seen this on defective drives; but you may be doing something wrong. If the disk is brand new use Disk Managment (Windows) or Disk Utility (Mac) to verify the partition sizes and layout. Delete and recreate, format.

If it shows up in these tools as 10MB, then it is probably fried.

George.

Moved out of Sony XDCAM EX -- has nothing to do with XDCAM EX.

Title changed from "question" to "new Lacie 250GB drive is showing 9.9mb of space" -- please avoid ambiguous thread titles. Thanks in advance,
