Video Clip in Powerpoint
 

Hopefully there are some that are more familiar with microsoft powerpoint than me (which doesn't take much). Anyway, my problem is in trying to put a video clip into a powerpoint presentation. I've done the "Insert Movie" which all that is done is it's linked to the video clip. Is there anyway to embed the clip into the slide presentation? This will probably be looked at by a few people and there's always that point when the presentation is forwarded but not the video clip... so it doesn't play. Just wondering if there is an easy way to incorporate video into powerpoint?

What OS, version of Powerpoint, and what type of file format, Quicktime, AVI, etc., are you trying to embed within the presentation?

Powerpoint is finicky about file types.

I am working with powerpoint 2002... Office XP professional. As for the format (mpeg, avi, wmv) it wouldn't make a difference to me as long as I can actually put the video into the presentation and have it play in the presentation without having to go and seperately open it in a player or to just have it linked and always have to make sure everyone has the video file along with the presentation.

Once you have the needed ppt file in your folder along with the linked media, compress the entire folder to a zip compressed folder. XP has a right click context menu to do this quickly. You might want to save the ppt as a powerpoint show, (.pps) so that the layperson will simply doubleclick it and the player launches. This is provided that Powerpoint is on the playback computer.

Macromedia Director is the best way to share presentation files as the player is included in the final output version. The other benefit is that the files are not editable when they begin to be shared. Refering here to a projector file.

Jimmy is absolutely right. Once you have linked the file, just create a package and you should be good to go.

But it seems that your battle is importing the video into Powerpoint? My advice would be to check this link and make sure that the codec used in the file your trying to import is supported for playback within PP. Otherwise, PP won't be able to play it and will create a link to the file as you have described.
