GL1 or VX2000?

Short and sweet:
Do I get the GL1 and the rebate, or do I spend a few hundred more and get the VX2000? I am just going to be using this for some short films/ parodies. I have no problem paying a bit extra if you get value in return. Is the 'frame movie mode' all its cracked up to be in the GL1, and does that alone make it more attractive than the Sony? is the 16:9 ratio on Sony that much better than the GL1? Are they both able to acheive a 'filmy look' ( I know neither will be perfect in that regard)? I'll be buying one or the other in the next 48 hours. Any help is greatly appreciated :-)

The GL1 and VX2K are two different cameras in two different catagories. The VX2K is a 1/3" chip and will render a superior image, especially in low light. (As will the XL1S) A direct comparison would be the Sony TRV950.

It's all a matter of personal taste but if you want the best and can afford it buy the VX2000. The gap in the picture quality is a fairly wide one.

The new GL2 has addressed almost all of the GL1's shortcomings and would be worth a peek. It will not be available for a few weeks yet(if it is it'll be in short supply) and will be sold at full pop for the first few months.

You've posted the exact same message on the GL1,VX2K and this forum. Here you might get a spread but the other 2?
