So, when is the next big convention?
 

All right, so NAB was kind of a let down, nothing totally new and most stuff was prototype stuff or "vaporware", as some have been putting it. So my only question is when is the next big video convention? Any before summer?

DV Expo East July 13-16, 2004. NYC is next I think. The major European shows are already over I think.

Too far away and way too expensive to attend for most of us West-Coast types.

I'd wait until DV EXpo West in December if you want to chance seeing something new. Maybe. It isn't a major show but some new stuff is show there. Lots cheaper to get around and stay in LA within driving distance of the convention center.

Nice bargains too if you want to pick up gear are always available from the vendors who reside in LA land.

I'm not spreading rumors here...just pointing out facts.

The XL1s rebate ends June 30th.
DVExpo East in in mid July.

Hmmmmm.

Then again, it did expire on March 31 ..and was extended (for the third time if I'm not mistaken).


Still, it could be an interesting show this year.

What's funny is, people always say you can tell a new model is coming out by the fact that the current ones are on rebate.

Canon has 'cried wolf' so many times now, that the tell tale sign of when a new model is coming out will be when the XL1s no longer offers a rebate.

Anyhow, DVExpo east is in the right timeframe. That's all I'm saying.
