Camera not able to record timecode

recently i posted a topic on minidv tape's timecode problem. please first check the link then continue...
http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25414

now i just got a new cam. last night and i used it to check my old tapes. (to make it clear, please note 1. the old cam = canon optura pi, new cam = canon zr 60; 2. the old tapes were shot with JVC, new tapes are shot with pi and there are two batches, first shot before the timecode problem, second shot after the time code problem.)
ok here it is. i checked the old tapes with zr 60 and the timecodes are fine. but the new tapes i shot with pi after the timecode problem are messed up.

so my question this time is: how does the camera records timecode? and if the camera can't read the timecode correctly, does that mean the camera can't produce correct timecode either? if there's something wrong with the camera,
is it repair able?
if footage shot with a camera that cannot record timecode, so there's no timecode on the footage, how can i capture?

First off you can repair the timecode. Just copy the tape from cam-to-cam and you should get a new timecode.

Not all NLEs need timecodes for editing. Different packages have different means of doing this. Generally, you can just do a capture without setting in/out points by manually.
