What video format is this camera and what can edit it?

Hi, forgive my ignorance, I've been away from cameras for some time.

I'm looking at AVCHD with much interest, but reading that to use it is a memory hog. With all the new flash drive cameras and consumer camera's going HD, I assume that something like Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 should be able to edit everything (except AVCHD apparently).

But I looked at the specs for the Sony DCR-SR67 for example (Cameras & Camcorders: Camcorders: Sony 80GB Camcorder (DCR-SR67) | Best Buy Canada Web Store) and saw that it doesn't list the video format.

What format can it be and what can edit it? And why isn't the video format listed? Looked at some other lists, for other brands and they aren't listed as well.

Are these flash cameras really just SD resolution recorded to hard drive? Or what's the deal? Are they better than shooting on miniDV with, say the new Canon ZR960?

Just wanting to shoot great looking video for WEB VIDEO. I assume I can get a kick ass camera for very cheap for this and edit on a simple system.

Can anyone enlighten me? i.e. what is the format called, the resolution specs, etc... I'm like a newbie to this new format.

This is a standard definition camcorder. It's not AVCHD. It records Mpeg 2 video.

Read more about it at DCR-SR67 | 80GB HandycamŽ Camcorder | Sony | SonyStyle USA
