Contracting a Sound Designer

I have been batting around the idea of contracting a sound designer for a feature film.

My reason for opening this thread is to mine the data no doubt stored in the heads of those who have done/ or now how to do -- soooo what's the dope on doing something like this? Rates? any recommendations? Anything really.

Thanks in Advance.

1- budget?

2- You can make a posting on mandy.com for whatever you're looking for, or you can see through your network of contacts if there are any sound designers who are eager for work. You can go from whatever you want to pay to no money (there are quite a few people who will work for little/no money to gain experience).

Thanks

Sure, just for the sake of conversation, lets say total project budget between 150,000-300,000.

Feature film -- and I would want to get the best possible audio/mix/design. Even if I had to cut back on other areas I would be willing to "spend the farm" on audio.

So solutions, professional ones is what I would like to hear from whoever out there knows, because frankly I am alittle in the dark.

Appreciate the reply.

Thanks

Dean

I'd post this one in the Now Hear This forum and let Spot help you.
