Ok
I am only using the deck's firewire port as a pass through to send avi, ts, and mpeg2 streams from vegas or premiere to my external monitor. Someone said it may be a mismatch b/c vegas is looking for a av subunit while the deck is a vtr subunit, but I do not know enough technically to determine if that is right. So again HELP.

Dwight:
The firewire ports on the 30k are a little different. If you hook up a DV camcorder, you can transfer TO the 30k, but since it hardware converts it to MPG2 for recording, you cannot go the other way. On the other hand, if I feed it a M2T stream from my JVC HD10 (HiDef 720P), it records it directly, and can be fed BACK to the camcorder. There is a freeware program called D-VHS tool that allows the PC to be seen as VCR that allows transfer of m2t between the PC and 30k, but I don't think it works with DV-AVI files. |
