What's the most expensive bit of kit you've ever bought?

Just out of curiosity.

What's the most expensive bit of kit you've ever bought?
Time to show off your disposable income.....

(Has to be a single item or a system)

E.g. MY CAMCORDER XM2

Not. MY CAMCORDER XM2 + SENNHEISER MKE300D MIC + MA300

THESE RULES MUST BE OBAYED............OR NOT. IT'S UP TO YOU.

Rob Lohman September 27th, 2004 01:44 PM

My car. After that my XL1S.

Jeff Donald September 27th, 2004 03:51 PM

Usually most people are shocked by the $19,000 USD Fujinon lens or the $6500 USD Sachtler tripod. When I tell people I used to own $50,000 USD cameras most aren't even surprised.

Dylan Couper September 27th, 2004 09:52 PM

Do women count?

Jack Smith September 27th, 2004 09:55 PM

Most do!

Aaron Koolen September 27th, 2004 10:00 PM

Like Rob, my house, but yeah my lowly XM2.....I feel so inadequate compared to Jeff...<g>

I'm sure you wanted to hear about more outrageous buys, but so far My Vaio PC at $2,200 is the highest, after that my Panny PV-DV851, which Ig ot for far under its usual price.

Matthew Cherry September 28th, 2004 03:11 PM

G5 based NLE bay.

You don't want to know...

See I took up video production as a hobby because my other hobby, sailing, wasn't using up enough of my available (and not so available) resources.

Did I mention I'm divorced?

Oh boy...!

Well, taken as a system, my Steadicam cost over $100,000, but the biggest single check written for that was $42K for the sled.

Then there was the Hot Gears at $30K...

The SL Cine (hotrodded Arri 2C) and Steadicam mags, another $30K...

Thankfully, all have paid themselves off. Wish the house and the car would do the same!

Barry Rivadue September 29th, 2004 07:21 AM

I'm still wondering how a lens could cost $19,000!!

Richard Lewis September 29th, 2004 09:36 AM

I was waiting for Charles to blow us all away.....somehow those $3000 DV cams don't seem such a big deal.

Matthew Cherry September 29th, 2004 04:03 PM

Hey Charles, mind forwarding that to my Ex?

:)
